We were welcomed by Paulo Flores, Associate Director of Zaha Hadid Architects some 15 years in standing and leading the firms design research team in all aspects of building design right down to the detail of furniture design and table ware.
Paulo’s enthusiasm for the work shone through and we were treated to an illuminating talk and walkaround the Zaha Hadid gallery – the firm has a strong global brand with a truly global presence since Zaha’s sad passing in 2016, the practice has emerged with a talented and committed team of leaders in their field. The commitment to see all the projects through to completion in any part of the world was notable.
The impressive display of models and drawings belies the fact that 70% of the work comes from competition a remarkable achievement. The collaboration with engineers so integral to the work of the practice is formidable given the complexity of forms – the practice is clearly blossoming, with experimentation and research at the heart of the practices agenda, the cross section of members of the company present thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.
