On 17th July, Valerie Le Vaillant (nee Owen) was elected to an Honorary Fellowship by the Council of Cardiff University. The presentation was made at a prestigious graduation ceremony in Wales last week. The Master, Stephen Wagstaffe, said: ‘Valerie trained at the Welsh School of Architecture, and I am delighted her outstanding achievements have been recognised by the award of an Honorary Fellowship from Cardiff University.’

Valerie said ‘I was thrilled to receive this Fellowship, and hope that, in some small way, the honour helps promote the WCCA’s excellent brand and reputation even further.’ The Honorary Fellowship was awarded for ‘Services to Architecture’ in recognition of Valerie’s long and distinguished career, during which she has held numerous non-executive and Ministerial appointments, involving her in some of the largest and most complex development projects procured by the public sector in recent years.
