The Architects’ Company organised the Concours on June 4 as part of the Annual Mr Porter City Nocturne to promote considerate cycling in the City. As the number of people using the streets increases, all road users have to treat each other with due consideration. The Corporation is focusing on walking as the most important mode of getting around the City in the day time. This can potentially bring cyclists and pedestrians into conflict. To set an example of considerate cycling the Concours d’Elegance shows a different side to urban bike riding.The spaces between buildings are a key element in the development of good city planning and the Company is keen to support Corporation initiatives for creating a more amenable City.
The event raised money for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal 2016 and the Hendy Murray Fund for Safer Streets. Here are some photos from the evening:
